As a fire fighter, you’ll have the chance to work in emergency management, protecting critical company assets and ensuring safety across Sasol’s operations. Positions are available from Fire Fighter in Training to Leading Fire Fighter, and appointments are made based on experience, skills, and rank requirements.
Key Responsibilities of the Leading Fire Fighter
As a Leading Fire Fighter, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring safety and efficiency across Sasol’s Energy Operations, particularly in emergency preparedness and response:
SHE Compliance: Apply SHE best practices to all emergency management tasks.
Performance and Fitness: Participate in ongoing physical and mental training to remain fit for handling incidents.
Emergency Response: React to emergency situations within agreed time standards.
Improvement Initiatives: Identify and propose improvements in emergency management and service delivery.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with all stakeholders to enhance response strategies.
Safety Contributions: Actively engage in safety discussions and make suggestions for improvements.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be eligible for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Education: Grade 12 with mathematical literacy or an equivalent qualification.
Fitness: Medically fit according to Fire Fighter standards.
Certifications:
Fire Fighter 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001) – Mandatory
HPCSA Registered and Current BAA (BLS) – Mandatory
HPCSA Registered and Current ILS – Desirable
Hazmat Awareness and Operations (NFPA 1072/472) – Mandatory
With 0-5 years of relevant experience, you’ll be placed at a rank that aligns with Sasol’s Emergency Management career path, ensuring growth from training to leadership in fire fighting.
