Introduction

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) is seeking a diligent and motivated individual to join our team in the role of Cleaner. Based in our Rustenburg facility, this permanent position is integral to maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards essential to our operations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our work environment meets the high standards expected by our company and our customers.

Key Purpose of the Role

The primary objective of the Cleaner is to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of designated work areas. This includes following specified cleaning methods and schedules as outlined by the Supervising Officer. The Cleaner will work under the direction of the Supervisor to ensure that all cleaning tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with established guidelines.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Cleaner will be responsible for a range of cleaning and maintenance tasks, which include but are not limited to:

1. Waste Management:
   • Emptying and cleaning waste bins or similar receptacles.
   • Transporting waste material to designated collection points.
2. Floor Cleaning:
   • Sweeping floors using brushes or dust control mops.
   • Mopping floors with wet or damp mops.
   • Suction cleaning of carpeted areas and performing “spot” cleaning on carpets.
   • Operating electrically powered scrubbing and polishing machines to burnish, scrub, polish, and spray clean floors, after receiving proper instruction and training.
3. Use of Equipment:
   • Utilizing electrically powered pick-up machines.
   • Working at heights, which may include the use of high-level equipment.
4. Surface Cleaning:
   • Dusting, damp wiping, washing, or polishing furniture, ledges, windowsills, external surfaces of cupboards, shelves, and fitments.
   • Replenishing consumable items such as soap, toilet rolls, and paper towels as directed or per standard operating procedures.
5. Sanitary Facilities:
   • Cleaning toilets, urinals, hand basins, sinks, baths, showers, and drinking fountains.
   • Performing deep cleaning of ablution facilities.
   • Cleaning drains.
6. Garden Maintenance:
   • Working in the gardens, which may involve removing weeds, using pesticides, cutting lawns, and pruning trees and shrubs.
7. Chemical Handling:
   • Using chemical agents as directed by the Supervising Officer in cleaning operations or maintenance procedures, after receiving appropriate instructions and training.
8. Additional Tasks:
   • Washing walls or cleaning inside window panes at prescribed height limits.
   • Carrying out any other reasonable duties as required by the overall function of the job.
   • Reporting any factors that could affect work to the supervisor or team leader.
9. Flexibility:
   • Adjusting the location of cleaning areas as needed to meet the establishment’s requirements.
   • Working alone or in teams as necessary.
   • Training colleagues on the job from time to time.
10. Conduct:
• Maintaining courtesy towards colleagues and visitors.
• Providing a welcoming environment to all site visitors

Skills, Experience, and Education

Educational Qualifications:

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification is required.

Experience:

• Previous experience in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment is preferred but not essential.
• Literacy and numeracy are required to perform the job effectively.
