South African National Parks (SANParks) Announces Field Assistant Vacancies
SANParks, the custodian of South Africa’s national parks, is currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of Field Assistant (Biodiversity Social Projects). This position is essential for supporting various biodiversity-focused initiatives within the park and is available on a fixed-term contract basis through to the end of March 2027, with the possibility of renewal based on mutual agreement.
Position Details
Role: Field Assistant (Biodiversity Social Projects)
Contract Type: Fixed-term until March 2027, renewable
Salary: R11,823.25 per month
Housing Allowance: R2,426.12 per month (housing outside the park, own accommodation)
Band: B4
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Management:
- Assist in planning for biodiversity and social projects.
- Support the management and mentoring of Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) contracts.
- Quality and Compliance:
- Oversee quality management and monitor task-based operations linked to the projects.
- Ensure compliance with program standards, norms, and Health and Safety regulations.
- Data and Mapping:
- Assist with mapping and data recording related to project activities.
- Administrative Support:
- Handle various administrative tasks and report on project progress.
- Communicate and liaise with relevant stakeholders effectively.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 qualification.
- Driver’s License: Code 08.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office.
- Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience working with contracting teams or managing personnel.
- Experience in health and safety management and compliance.
- Essential experience in soil or land rehabilitation techniques.
Added Advantages:
- Basic competency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and relevant experience.
