Internship Description

Position Title: Financial Officer Intern

The main function of the Finance Intern is to assist the Gauteng Partnership Fund (GPF) Finance Team with various generalist finance responsibilities. The Intern will gain exposure to the day-to-day processes which will include Accounts Payable, Cashbook reconciliations and other departmental administration processes.

As this is an internship position, applicants should have no relevant working experience.

Responsibilities:

The incumbent is expected to deliver on the following detailed key performance areas:

  • Assist in capturing transactions on the accounting system
  • Assist in ensuring cash claim expenditure is accurately and timeously captured across the business
  • Assist in the preparation of processing payments onto the banking system
  • Assist in processing entries on the bank accounts on the accounting system
  • Assist with the preparation of bank reconciliations
  • Upload bank statements for all bank accounts onto the Intranet
  • Assist in accurately and timeously capturing petty cash expenditure across the business, as required
  • Participate in outstanding claims investigations and execute new applications of petty cash.
  • Economic Development & BEE Reporting
  • Assist in preparing quarterly ED reporting submissions and collation of data
  • Assist in the preparation of data and sample selection for the BEE audits
  • Ability to work closely with others
  • Being proactive in assisting others
  • Contribution to business unit meetings and brainstorming sessions
  • Mentoring and coaching of interns and peers
  • And any other duties, as assigned by the Line Manager, that are in line with the role.
  • Assignments from the CEO and CFO as and when required

Requirements:

  • National Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in:
    • Accounting or Finance
  • No applicable experience is required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • High attention to detail and delivery-orientated
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Excellent MS Word and MS Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to solve problems logically
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Able to manage time, prioritize and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Able and willing to learn.
