The Department of Health is seeking to appoint Data Capturers to various districts within the province. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely collection of data, as well as maintaining and updating data systems.
To apply for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
– Senior Certificate/ Matric Certificate or equivalent
– Good interpersonal and communication skills
– Basic computer literacy skills
– Experience in data capturing or information systems will be an added advantage
In addition to these requirements, candidates must also demonstrate the following competencies:
– Computer literacy: Demonstrate computer skills, through proficiency with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, spreadsheet software and/or other commonly used personal computer software
– Knowledge of customer care relations
– Knowledge of minimum information standards and how data is collected
– Knowledge of DHIS or other information systems used in the public health
– Good inter-personal relationship skills
– Ability to work under pressure
The duties of a Data Capturer include:
– Ensuring the accurate and timely collection of data
– Maintaining and updating data systems
– Ensuring adherence to the National Information Management Policy
– Ensuring all facility data is correct, complete and consistent
– Ensuring timeous reporting of facility monthly reports to districts
– Ensuring that monthly input forms correspond to source documents
– Proper file keeping in health care facilities
– Capturing of data into WebDHIS (including DHIS Daily Capturing), (link unavailable), EDRweb and other patient management systems
– Running Validation checks, data integrity checks to ensure quality
– Conducting regular data quality audits and participating in external audit activities
– Exporting data and sending to next level according to Provincial data flow procedure
– Preparing and updating graphs on key indicators on a monthly basis
– Preparing monthly reports on key indicators and targets for presentation at facility meetings
– Providing feedback through the facility manager to all staff involved in data collection on the quality of the data
– Performing administrative/clerical duties as required
