Standard Bank Bursary Overview

The Standard Bank Bursary supports students in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the following fields:

  • Agriculture
  • Commerce
  • Engineering

  • Science (Actuarial, Analytics, Business, Computer, Data, Information)
  • Statistics
  • Technology (Financial, Information)
  • Behavioural Economics (Economics, Behavioural Finance, Sociology, Psychology, Neuroscience)

Undergraduate Bursary

The Standard Bank Group Undergraduate Bursary is designed for students who are on track to complete their first year and require funding from their second year onwards. Applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance and meet the following criteria:

  • Achieve an average of 65% or above in the latest examinations.
  • Be registered for full-time undergraduate studies.
  • Participate in a formal assessment process, including psychometric evaluations and interviews.
  • Demonstrate financial need.

Postgraduate Bursary

The Standard Bank Group Postgraduate Bursary offers full-cost support to financially deserving and academically sound students pursuing postgraduate studies in the specified fields. The selection criteria include:

  • Achieve an average of 65% or above in the latest examinations.
  • Register for full-time postgraduate studies at a public South African institution of higher learning.
  • Participate in a formal assessment process, including psychometric evaluations and interviews.
  • Demonstrate financial need.

Standard Bank Bursary Details

The Standard Bank Bursary covers all study and study-related costs, including:

  • University fees.
  • Accommodation (university residence or private accommodation within specified limits).
  • Meals (provided by the university or self-catering).
  • Books and study materials.
  • A laptop computer.
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses.
  • Transport between home and campus four times a year (bus ticket cost).

Selection Criteria

The Standard Bank Bursary is available for students needing funding for their second, third, and final year of undergraduate studies, as well as postgraduate studies up to Master’s level. Applicants must:

  • Have a 65% aggregate.
  • Be registered for full-time studies.
  • Demonstrate financial need.

    • Applications must be submitted on StudyTrust’s online application platform (hosted by DevMan) before 30 September to be considered for the following academic year.

    Required Documents

    • Certified copy of ID.
    • Proof of all academic results to date (Grade 12 certificate and full tertiary academic record).
