Registry Clerk Job Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to provide efficient and effective registry services to support the Department of Social Development’s operations in the Western Cape. The Registry Clerk will handle various administrative tasks, ensuring the smooth management and flow of documents and correspondence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to clients and handle telephonic and other enquiries received.
  • Receive and register hand-delivered mail/files.
  • Receive, sort, register, and dispatch mail.
  • Distribute notices on registry issues.
  • Open and close files according to the record classification system.
  • File, store, trace (electronically/manually), and retrieve documents and files.
  • Complete index cards for all files.
  • Manage machines related to the registry function.
  • Open and maintain the franking machine register.
  • Perform electronic scanning of files.
  • Sort and package files for archives and distribution.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification).
  • Recommendation: A valid code B (or higher) driving license. Note: Individuals with disabilities that restrict driving abilities but have reasonable access to transport may also apply.

Remuneration

  • Salary: R 216 417 per annum (Salary Level 5).
