ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Supports the maintenance team by providing effective maintenance reliability assistance while adhering to procedures/codes, to increase stability and maintain sustainability of vehicles and industrial equipment.
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS
Safety inspection of work area according to SHE standards.
Perform BBS observation as required
Understand and perform work according planning and to business unit specific standards operating procedure and work instructions.
Assist artisan when performing maintenance of the vehicle
Basic knowledge and safe use of basic measuring equipment and lifting equipment
Basic knowledge and safe use of basic measuring equipment and lifting equipment
General maintenance of machines, checking and filling oil levels and greasing of equipment and vehicles
General maintenance e.g painting, cleaning machines, replacing tags, tyre change on vehicles, and use of torque wrenches.
Dismantle and assemble trade specific equipment, and perform task unsupervised
Carry out tool inspection and identify unsafe tools
Perform any other duties as assigned e.g assisting at the tools stores
Maintain good housekeeping and adhere to waste disposal procedure
Participate in daily morning meeting (Toolbox) and provide adequate feedback to supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
In addition to a pre-employment medical examination this position may require a physical fitness assessment as part of the normal selection criteria.
Qualifications:
Grade 12, Maths, Physical Science, English (Wish)
NQF 1 Academic code (Internal candidates only)
Valid driver’s licence (Must) (Code 14 added advantage)
Experience:
1 year experience as a General Worker
Experience on vehicle maintenance (added advantage)
Knowledge of general safety rules, work instructions and emergency preparedness
Knowledge of measuring instruments (venier, micrometers, rules, etc)
Interpret written information
Use trade related hand tools safely
Working at heights
